This Supernatural Story
Steven Soderbergh pushes his film-making abilities with this innovative paranormal narrative shot entirely from the perspective of the phantom. After a clan featuring mother Rebekah and troubled teenage daughter Chloe settles into their recent residence, the lens – representing the ghost – shadows their actions. Chloe seems sensing the ghostly being, and it looks like protective of her. But why? The premise is enjoyable that remains concise, including a revelation you might not see coming. This Creepy Thriller
Derrickson's contained scarefest stands strong without requiring a continuation. Located in the late 70s in Denver, a series of child abductions has made the children anxious. After Finney gets captured by “the Grabber” and locked up in a cellar, he anticipates the worst. However, the non-functional line mounted nearby keeps ringing, with eerie communicators offering help, while the prophetic visions of Gwen, his sister might rescue him. A genuinely scary movie. This Saturday, nighttime, on Film4
The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Michael Showalter's wonderfully garish film adaptation regarding the shamed TV preacher and her felon spouse. The actor plays the venal Jim, who declares at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals commence monetising the people's Christian beliefs. It's a spectacle of poor styling, bad makeup and bad faith, though Jessica Chastain achieves to depict Tammy Faye in a likable light. Tuesday 14 October, 1.15am, Film4
