The British government is prepared to move forward with using the total value of seized Russia's funds to bolster the Ukrainian military campaign, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a shared declaration, the leaders of the UK, France, and Germany asserted that this coordinated action would escalate tension on Russian President Vladimir Putin and compel Moscow to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the US.

British sanctions have blocked over £25bn of Russian funds since Moscow began its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. But, until now, resources allocated to Ukraine using Russian holdings had exclusively been taken from gains and dividends generated on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their goal to drive progress toward utilizing the total worth of the frozen Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He added that more measures soon would increase the strain on Russia.

This announcement is subsequent to European Union representatives gathered in the Danish capital previously to debate employing frozen Russian assets for a €140bn financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged G7 allies to confiscate or otherwise use seized Russian assets, according to reports.

The value of seized Russia's assets in the European Union is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Russia executed extensive bombardments throughout Ukraine on recently, leading to electricity outages in significant regions of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Several persons were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the attack, authorities in Ukraine stated.

In a update on social media following the incident, Zelensky stated that the premeditated assault aimed at non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not mere statements but firm measures - from the United States, the European Union, and the G7 - in delivering anti-aircraft weapons and implementing penalties," he emphasized.

"Every sanction decision weakens Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed media outlets he would encourage Sir Keir to join the PURL program, under which Nato countries purchase arms from the US to give to Ukraine.

While praising the Britain's strong support for Kyiv, he said it should send a clear signal that it would participate in the system, as well as enforce additional sanctions on the Russian Federation.
