A 23-year-old from the local area was given a 27-week prison sentence, suspended for one year, after admitting to reckless operation of a vehicle.

A police sergeant remarked: “Local people, motorists and our traffic officers have had enough with these crowds of motorists thoughtlessly occupying streets and parking areas and we will not tolerate it.”
He added: “These events are not only a complete nuisance, but they also put participants and uninvolved individuals at danger of serious injury.”
The statement concluded: “Our efforts will persist to take legal action against these drivers and I trust these latest incidents serve as a warning: you won’t get away with it.”
