They prepare for criticism, but they have feelings. Typically, Wes Streeting dares say the obvious truth: that there is "deep disillusionment in this country at the moment" and "a growing sense of despair about whether anyone is capable of turning this country round".

Public Opinion Baffles

Yet, even so, the current vitriolic state of public opinion is puzzling and worrying. The Labour leader is the most disliked prime minister on record. Actually?

The government's responsibility is to take all necessary measures to stop this development. Prepare for coalition, be acceptable to like-minded parties when political labels is overshadowed by the essential limit against a political danger unprecedented in modern history.

That's a purpose to drive out despair.
